Birth of Principal Ibrahim Khan
Ibrahim Khan was born in 1894 in Biramidi village under Bhuiyanpur police station of Tangail district. He is the 6th son of his family. His child’s education started to his elder brother. In 1917 Khan married to Amzumunnesa.
Educational Profile of Principal Ibrahim Khan
- Primary Education: He got his primary education from Fosholandi Pathshala of Bhuiyanpur.
- High Primary: Lokerpara Pathshala was his high primary educational institution.
- 5th standard: Passed 5th standard from Hemnagar High School, Gopalpur in 1906.
- High School: Admitted into Pingna High School in 1907
- Entrance Pass: He passed the entrance examination in 1912 getting first division.
- F.A. Pass: He passed F.A. (Fine Arts) exam (Higher Secondary Certificate) in 1914 from Ananda Mohon College of Mymensingh getting second division.
- B.A (Honors): In 1917 Principal Ibrahim Khan earned a bachelor’s in English Language and Literature from Saint Paul College (Surendranath College), Kolkata. In the same year, he was admitted to law the first Year.

Teaching Life
On 28 November 1919, he started teaching as the Headmaster of the Hafez Mahmud Ali Institution at Karatia, Tangail. He joined as head teacher at the request of Wazed Ali Khan Ponni (Chad Mia), the famous landlord of Karatia in Tangail. Hafez Mahmud Ali Khan Institution was established after his father’s name. Before joining this institution, Ibrahim Khan engaged two times as a teacher.
As a Literary Artist
Principal Ibrahim Khan mostly inspired by the Muslim renaissance. He wrote Kamal Pasha (1927), Anwar Pasha (1939), Istambul Yatrir Patra (1954), Beduiner Deshe (1956), he also wrote about Muslim heroes and the Islamic countries that he had visited. His other books include Byaghra Mama (1951), Rin Parishodh (1955), etc. Batayan published in 1967, is an important record of Muslim society. He was bestowed the titles of ‘Khan Saheb’ and ‘Khan Bahadur’ by the British government and the ‘Sitara-i-Imtiaz’ by the Pakistan government.

Award and Title
- Bangla Academy Award: He received Bangla Academy Award in 1963 for his contribution to drama.
- Ekushey Padak: Khan Shaheb got this prize in 1976 for playing his great role in literature.
- Khan Bahadur: In 1943 Ibrahim Khan refused this title.
- Toghma-e Kayed e Azom: This title refused in 1963 by Ibrahim Khan because The epithet ”Kayed E Azom” named by the Pakistan Government.
Role In Establishing Saadat College as a Principal
Saadat College, famous as Aligarh in Bengal was established at Karatia in Tangail in the name of his grandfather Saadat Ali Khan Panni with the funding of Muslim zamindar Wazed Ali Khan Panni ( Chad Mia). There is a great contribution as built by the first principal of the college, Ibrahim Khan. At a time, Khan Shaheb left Karatia to Mymensingh for joining as a lawyer in Mymensingh Judge Court. zamindar Wazed Ali Khan Panni called him again and offered to stay and take as a headmaster of HM Institution. Ibrahim Khan gave a condition to establish a college in Karatia. Then Zaminder agreed to establish a college.
He managed the college as Principal for 22 years. By his single efforts, this college elevated to a first-class college. At that time people from different places including Bengali Bihar and Assam used to come here to study. He spent the best hours of his life, leaving the legal profession to build the college.
Role in Establishing Bangla College
Ibrahim Khan had role in establishing Bangla College at Bakshi Bazar, Dhaka. Then the authority transferred this college to Mirpur. He worked with Dr. Muhammad Shahidulla and Principal Mohammad Abul Kashem for founding this college. He performed duties as a secretary of this college for long.

After the death of Principal Ibrahim Khan in 1978, the college was renamed as ‘Ibrahim Khan College’ to pay tribute to his memory. This was a significant role of the people of Bhuiyanpur to honor this literary artist. Educationist Principal Ibrahim Khan engaged himself in the adventure of establishing ‘Bhuiyanpur College’ in 1948 at the request of a number of intellectuals of Bhuiyanpur with the sincere cooperation of people from all walks of life.
On 4th April 1948, Maulana Abdul Hamid Khan Bhasani, the oppressed public leader, formed the organizing committee of ‘Bhuiyanpur College’ and laid the foundation stone of the college. On July 1, 1948, the college started temporarily in Bhuiyanpur High School with 102 students in Humanities and Business Education. Mr. Halimuzzaman Khan served as the first principal (acting) of the college.
