Asian Nobel -Ramon Magsaysay Award-2023

Introduction
Ramon Magsaysay Award is famous as the name of ‘Nobel Prize’ of Asia. This award is given only to the Asian people. Those play an important role in good government service, public service, journalism, leadership, literature, peace and contribution to international understanding. Ramon Magsaysay Award is given in the name of former Philippine president Ramon Magsaysay. This award, formed for the excellency of Ramon Magsaysay in good governance and courageous service. This award was established in 1957 in the memory of Ramon Magsaysay by Rockefeller Brothers Fund.

Who is Ramon Magsaysay
Ramon Magsaysay was the seventh President of Philippine. He started serving as a president from December30,1953. He died in an aircraft tragedy on 17 March 1957. Ramon was born on 31 August 1907 at Iba in Philippine. He was also the secretary of National Defence before the president.

Korvi Rakshand, Bangladesh
Korvi Rakshand is a Bangladeshi. He is the founder of Jaago Foundation of Bangladesh. He achieved this award as a pioneer in growing universal quality education in Bangladesh. Furthermore, he has been working persistently to promote a culture of active participation of youth in his own country, stated by RMAF. He got this prize in the emergent category.

Dr Ravi Kannan R. India 
Dr Ravi Kannan is a Surgical Oncologist & Director of Cachar Cancer Hospital & Research. This hospital treats cancer patients. He is mostly known for free treatment to cancer patients. Dr Ravi Kannan got Ramon Magsaysay Award for the contribution in health. He got Padma Shri Award (4th Highest Civilian Award of India) on 26 January 2020 and Mahaveer Award in medicine in 2013.

Eugenio Lemos, West Timor
He is recognized by Ramon Magsaysay Award Foundation for his indomitable spirit in uplifting the lives of local communities, his vision and passion in integrating local and indigenous cultures in his advocacy for the care of the environment and the wellbeing of people; and for being truly a man of and for his people and thus for the world as well, stated in the highlights of RMAF sites.

Miriam Coronel-Ferrer
Miriam Coronel Ferrer is a Filipino professor. She is a peace negotiator and the chair of the peace panel of the Government of the Philippines. Before receiving Ramon Magsaysay Award, she got Hillary Rodham Clinton Award for Advancing women in peace and security. He is known as the negotiator with the rebel group of the Philippines.

13 Bangladeshi Awardees of Ramon Magsaysay Award

1. Tahrunnesa Abdullah (1978)
   Tahrunnesa Abdullah is the first Bangladeshi Muslim women who received Ramon Magsaysay Award in leadership category.
2. Fazle Hasan Abed (1980)
   Fazle Hasan Abed is the founder of BRAC (Bangladesh Rural Advancement Committee). BRAC is one of the largest non-government organization in the world working with the rural people. He was a visionary man. He was born on 27 April 1936 and died on 20 December 2019.
3. Muhammad Yunus (1984)
   Founder of Grameen Bank and known as the pioneer of microcredit system all over the world. He got the most prestigious award, ‘Nobel Prize’ for peace.
4. Zafrullah Chowdhury (1985)
   Zafrullah Chowdhury is the founder of Gono Shastha Kendra and Gono Bishwobiddalay. His main role to get this award for health care for the poor people. He was the health activist.

   Angela Gomes is the founder of a non-profit organization, Banchte Shekha.
8. Abu Sayeed Abdullah (2004)
   Professor Abu Sayeed Abdullah is the founder of Bishwo Shahitto Kendro.

   Matiur Rahman is the Editor of the renowned Bangladeshi newspaper, The Daily Prothom Alo.

Conclusion
Ramon Magsaysay Award is given to the Asian people who played role according to RMAF criteria of Philippine. This award is very famous and highly honoured to the people of Asia. The First Ramon Magsaysay Award was given in 1958.
